The trip

Four ways to spend a day on the water.

Paje sits on a long east-coast lagoon, but the best water is often not in front of the school — it's at Jambiani's reef, in the flat pools south of Michamvi, or out past the mangroves of Chwaka Bay. A trip day gives you access to those spots with transport, drinks and instruction handled.

Four variants run on the schedule. The Blue Safari is a boat day between lagoons for kiters who want glassy flat water without the beach crowd. The Downwinder is a one-way kite between two spots — you ride, they drive. The Mangroves SUP is a non-kite day on paddle boards through the Chwaka Bay channels. The Private Explorer is whatever you ask for, within reason.

A boat morning south from Paje to the glass-flat pools the swell never reaches. For kiters who want to session uncrowded water and come back at sunset.
Downwinder
Point-to-point · kite one-way
Launch at one spot, ride downwind to another, get picked up by the school's vehicle. Usually Paje → Jambiani or Paje → Michamvi. Best when the trades are steady.
Mangroves SUP
No-wind day · paddle boards
For the days the wind sits down. Paddle through the Chwaka Bay mangrove channels — birdlife, tunnels of branches, shallow water. Two to three hours at a slow pace.
Private Explorer
Custom · whatever you want
Tell the school what you want — a long downwinder, a remote spot they know, a kite-SUP-swim combo — and they'll build the day. Pricing and boat depend on the itinerary.
Practicalities

What's included, what to bring.

Included
Transport, drinks, instructor / guide. Kite gear is included on kiting variants; SUP boards included on the mangroves day. Boats come with fuel and a driver.
Duration
Half-day trips run four to five hours. Full-day trips run eight. Start times shift to match the wind window and the tide — confirm the day before.
Group size
Small — usually two to six guests per trip. Private Explorer trips are one-group only. Book ahead in high season (Dec–Mar, Jul–Sep) as boats fill.
What to bring
Sunscreen, a hat, water, a change of clothes. If you have your own kite and harness and want to bring them, mention it when booking.
